In metal pretreatment, true efficiency is driven by absolute process stability.
Any chemical process relies on a strict balance of 4 factors: composition, time, temperature, and movement.
By implementing a dynamic industrial agitator in pickling tanks, GIMECO aims to eliminate local fluctuations and to maintain the exact same acid concentration throughout the whole tank.
This allows the pretreatment process to run efficiently with high iron and low acid concentrations, keeping the average pickling time shorter than in a static pickling tank.
Without proper fluid movement, in fact, maintaining these same parameters would result in a 20 to 40% longer pickling time.
A dynamically balanced chemical bath optimizes overall consumption and resource management:
– Resource precision: acid usage becomes highly predictable, and can be kept at low consumption levels.
– Waste valorization: saturated waste maintains a consistent composition with a high iron content and low acid concentration, securing highly advantageous prices for waste disposal.
– Clean surfaces: if the optional side pocket is installed, the hydraulic flow will continuously push emulsified oils into it. In this pocket, de-emulsified free oil is separated from the pickling solution. Conversely, emulsified oils consist of chemically dissolved oil droplets and cannot be separated without additional processing: only de-emulsified free oils can be removed.
This mechanism ensures clean surfaces and drastically lowers rework rates.
Lastly, it is important to note that the mixing system of the pickling solution has absolutely no impact on the dimensions of either the tank or the confinement tunnel.
Process predictability is the real driver for chemical optimization in the pretreatment process: take your hot-dip galvanizing operations to the next level thanks to the GIMECO’s technical know-how! 😉
